KET Scholarship Awards 2016

Scholarship Award to 153 Naga Students

Several Naga veterans attended the Scholarship Awards this year. 35 of the 150 scholarships awarded were given to the great grandchildren of veterans who assisted the British in 1944. KET Deputy Chairman Steve White was there with 153 young Nagas who attended, accompanied by a family member or teacher.

The Kohima Educational Society and Kohima Educational Trust which has been awarding scholarship to the Naga students annually has awarded scholarships to 153 Naga students including 23 scholars selected from the grandchildren of war veterans at a function held at Ura Academy Hall.

Addressing the gathering, Steve White, KET Trustee said the Kohima Educational Trust, United Kingdom and Kohima Educational Society have been awarding scholarship to the Naga students as a gratitude to the Nagas for supporting the allied forces during the battle of Kohima in 1944-45, which has been considered as greatest war in the history of Britain.

The award was also given to some students in the name of Naga artists Tetseo Sister’s, Methaneilie (Jutakhrie), Purple Fusion, Euphony Choir, Tali Angh, Alobo Naga and Quino.
The award was presented by Steve White.

The World War II veterans who attended the occasion shared their experiences. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. P. Ngully, invocation prayer by Rev. Dr. Tsanso while introduction of WWII veterans was made by Charles Chasie, president of the KES.
